We are sisters from the southern state of Texas, just enjoying life and spreading the truth. Everything truly is bigger in Texas, with eight out of our ten family members being over six feet tall. We love competitive sports, especially basketball, and are always up for adventures in the great outdoors.

After high school, we both dabbled in the modeling industry but soon discovered that our Christian values and morals wouldn’t jive long-term in that environment. After putting our modeling dreams to rest, we both felt God stirring within us a passion for something more. We dove into God’s word to study what He had to say about our design as women. The more we learned, the more we felt compelled to share it.

And that’s when God opened the doors to launch Girl Defined Ministries.

Since launching Girl Defined Ministries in 2014, our goal has always been the same – to help modern girls understand and live out God’s timeless truth for womanhood. In a day and age when girls and women receive so many conflicting messages about their value, purpose, and identity, they desperately need to know that the only one who can define them is the One who created them.

Through our blogs, videos, conferences, and online webinars, we are building an online “sisterhood” where girls and women can find the encouragement and answers they’re searching for.

We don’t have all the answers, and we most definitely have not arrived at that perfect place. But we know some truth – and it’s radically changed our lives. Our hope is that Girl Defined Ministries will challenge, encourage, and open your eyes to God’s incredible design for womanhood.

Bio

Nate Larkin is the founder of the Samson Society and the author of Samson and the Pirate Monks: Calling Men to Authentic Brotherhood, [Thomas Nelson 2007]. He is also the author, with Darrell Waltrip, of Sundays Will Never Be the Same, published by Simon & Schuster in 2012. The oldest son of a Pentecostal preacher, Nate Larkin graduated from St. Lawrence University, where he served as president of the Campus Christian Fellowship, and Princeton Theological Seminary, where he majored in Preaching and was awarded the Preaching Prize. Within two years of graduating from Princeton, Nate and his wife Allie had planted a non-denominational church in South Florida. By this time, however, Nate had developed a secret addiction to pornography and commercial sex. Five years later, Nate quit the ministry, driven by private despair about his moral failures and fear of public exposure. He switched careers, building a successful engineering business and remaining active in church life, while his addictive behavior continued. In 1998 Nate and Allie moved to Franklin, Tennessee, where Nate finally found help for his sex addiction in the safety of a 12-step recovery group. His circle of friends steadily expanded, eventually including a large group of men with diverse weaknesses—addicts and potential addicts of every description, united by a common faith and a need for true companionship. In 2004, Nate and several of these friends formed a mutual aid society for Christian men called the Samson Society. As of 2020, more than 500 local Samson Society groups have started, and men from around the world are attending daily online video meetings at samsonsociety,org. Nate is a popular speaker at conferences, colleges and retreats, and is the co-host of two podcasts, the Pirate Monk Podcast and the Positive Sobriety Podcast. Women struggle with sexual brokenness too. Yet, it’s far less common for churches to have groups for women who struggle with sex or pornography. What’s at stake if we don’t have groups for women who struggle? How will women find healing?

Having groups for women who struggle is a must. Women need a safe place to feel unashamed and equipped to find freedom from their own sexual struggles.

Helping women find healing from sexual brokenness can be especially challenging if you are a male pastor or have a mostly male staff. But it’s possible and needed!
